Partners

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VUA)

The Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) at VUA is the project lead and coordinates the project activities with the other partners. In addition to project coordination, VUA is the lead for the Bayesian network modelling of climatic scenarios.

Centre de cooperation internationale en recherche agronomique pour le developpment (CIRAD)

CIRAD is a French agricultural research and international cooperation organization working for the sustainable development of tropical and Mediterranean regions. CIRAD is the co-lead for the food systems mapping efforts and the lead for the climate change impact on food production systems.

University of Constantine 3

The University of Constantine 3 (UC3) located in the Constantine, Algeria, the third largest city in the country. UC3 will be leading the case study in the Wilaya region, including Bni Hmiden, an agricultural community. In addition to leading the case study work, UC3 is the co-lead for the co-design process of interventions.

Moi University

Moi University, located in Eldoret, Kenya, will lead the case study in Nakura County. Nakura County is a rapidly urbanizing/peri-urban region that is experiencing transition from subsistence production to value-chains and is intensively involved in production for high-value crops for export markets. In addition, it is a region of high climate variability with a history of competing claims on water resources. Mou University is the lead for the food system mapping and the co-lead for network models of food systems.

University of the Western Cape

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is leading the case study in Worcester and the larger Breede Valley in South Africa. The Western Cape and Breede Valley have experienced increasingly more climate change-related extreme events of floods, drought events and fire incidences. Thus, the agricultural sector seeks resilient and sustainable practices for food and nutrition security. UWC is the co-lead for iterative learning and prototyping and the lead for the co-design process of interventions.
